MSBA-HTM Featured Elective Courses

The MSBA-HTM curriculum is designed to provide you with a comprehensive business education through MBA-level business core courses, while also providing the flexibility to tailor your degree to an area of particular interest to your hospitality career.

Not ready to commit to the full program? No problem! Current students or working professionals can take courses individually as an elective, or stack courses to earn a graduate certificate.

Courses Include:

HTM 5024 — International Service Management

Explore contemporary challenges in the international hospitality industry, including global strategy, technology, diversity, political and legal issues, and organizational structures for long-term success.
Fridays 1-3:50pm. In-person at Academic Building One (AB1) in Alexandria, VA only.

HTM 5984 — Active Intentional Leadership

An experiential leadership course designed for students in a business environment. Explores emotional leadership drivers and traits and how leaders use them to gain the trust of individuals on their teams to build a thriving culture. Features guest speakers to help students gain insights into examples of leadership. Upon completion of this course, the student will understand what constitutes effective leadership.
Tuesdays 6-8:50pm at AB1 or online.

HTM 5564 – Information Technology and Business Analytics in Hospitality and Tourism

Theoretical foundations of tech applications in hospitality, tourism, and events. Widely used tech, AI, information systems in operation, management, and e-business in HTM. Web marketing and distribution practices. Emerging analytics tools for business intelligence and strategic decision making. Impacts of AI and tech on organizations and the industry as a whole.
Wednesdays 6-8:50pm at AB1 or online.

HTM 5444 – Financial Management in Hospitality Services

Fundamentals of financial management as applied to hotel, restaurants, institutions, and similar service organizations.
Thursdays 6-8:50pm online.
