A Bridge for Academic Research to Industry Impact

It was a dream of our friend Howard Feiertag to find a way to bridge the divide of academic research and the impact it could/does have on the Hospitality and Tourism industry. We started to build such a bridge through a collection in the Virginia Tech Library Database in 2019.

Due to copyright and licensing restrictions we are no longer able to continue building that bridge, so we are building a new one here.

This newsletter is the newest vehicle to communicate academic research to industry colleagues in order to inform and assist with issues you may be having in the workplace.

It is our goal to feature one of our outstanding faculty researchers, explain the research they are working on and summarize the industry impact such research will have to assist in making the HTM industry better.

We will also introduce you to a PhD candidate, and MSBA student and an Undergrad student on our program so that you can see their areas of focus and keep an eye out for these rising hospitality and tourism stars.

We will be starting with 3 newsletters each year (Spring, Summer, Fall). These will be emailed to you (if you are not on our email list please subscribe!) and will be housed on our website (address here) for future reference. It is our goal to continue Howard’s dream by hosting a podcast where we interview our faculty with an industry guest to discuss how we best work together once the newsletter is up and running…stay tuned.
