Nancy McGehee, Professor for the Feiertag Hospitality and Tourism Management Department, and Charis Tucker, a PhD student working with Professor McGehee, have been awarded the ICTAS (Institute for Critical Technology and Applied Science) Diversity & Inclusion Seed Investment Grant for research! The award is $20K over two years and the goal is to work with colleague Dr. Berkita Bradford at Virginia State University. The research is part of Charis’s dissertation and is entitled “Online Allies? Exploring the Black Travelers Perspective on the Legitimacy of the Tourism Industries Racial Injustice Advocacy Initiatives.” Additionally, all awardees will participate in the HBCU-MSI Summit and diversity activities with ICTAS. According to Professor McGehee, “We look forward to hosting Dr. Bradford here as well as traveling to VSU over the next two years as we develop the research, ultimately culminating in both applied recommendations and top tier journal articles.”
